Hiring a Freelancer Saves You Money

In a time where expenses and cost of living feel as though they are at an all-time high, businesses are doing all they can to save money. If you are a company in need of creative services (Art Direction, Graphic Design, Illustration or Branding), hiring a Freelancer can help cut down costs. I put together a few reasons why hiring a Freelancer (like myself) can benefit companies in the long run, and serve as an affordable option for high quality design work.

  1. Freedom to monitor your budget

When you work with a Freelancer, you call the shots. We work with your budget, and we plan schedules around how much you want to spend. There are many ways a Freelancer can help you stay on budget, all while meeting the project or contract requirements. Full transparency is key in these situations, and Freelancers are almost always open to finding ways to work within your means.

  2. Only pay for the work you need

In addition to controlling your budget, you also get to decide what projects need to take priority in your business, and how much time you are willing to spend on those projects. Sometimes, businesses only need a designer during a seasonal period, to help with overflows of work, or to assist on a few projects here and there. Whatever it may be, having a Freelancer at your disposal to take on jobs, rather than paying a designer on staff, saves you more money in the long run.

  3. Low overhead costs = savings for you

Freelancers often pay out of pocket for all of their equipment, subscriptions, and health benefits. Plus, they often work solo at their home office. This means we don’t have staff members to pay, or office rent and utility expenses - we just worry about ourselves (or on occasion, we will outsource to someone to add a fresh perspective and assist with the workload).

Even though freelance rates are set up to help cover those costs, their expenses are still much lower than agencies and studios who have much higher overhead.

By choosing to work with a Freelancer, you are choosing to work with a specialist who can give you the most value for your money. It’s not to say that full-time designers and studios aren’t needed, but when you’re looking to be frugal, working with a Freelancer may be the way to go.
